CONTINUING EDUCATION JOURNEYMAN WIREMAN CLASSES

TECH MATH
This course requires approximately 30-40 classroom hours. This course is recommended for every new apprentice wireman, apprentice lineman and residential trainee. it is also beneficial for those entering the industry through organizing.

DC THEORY
This course requires 40-45 classroom hours. This course is highly recommended for individuals entering through organizing. it is a good review for anyone who has been out of apprenticeship for a number of years. it is a prerequisite for the AC Theory course. DC Theory is presented in its simplest possible form.

AC THEORY
This course requires 40-45 classroom hours. This course is highly recommended for individuals entering through organizing. It is a good review for anyone who has been out of apprenticeship for a number of years. The DC Theory course is a prerequisite for this course.

JOURNEYMAN COMMUNICATIONS
This 6 hour, 2 assignment course is designed to help journeymen recognize the importance of good communication on the job. Moreover, the journeyman develops the ability to promote effective communication.

JOURNEYMAN PRODUCTIVITY
This 12 hour, 4 assignment course is for journeymen and others who want to learn how they can increase productivity on the job. Several different aspects of productivity are discussed, with the purpose of providing a framework for motivating journeymen and for increasing productivity.

JOURNEYMAN MARKETING
This is an important 15 hour, 5 assignment course that explores ways in which the journeyman on the job can better market the services of the contractor to the customer. Emphasis is placed on showing ways that the journeyman on the job represents the customer and how he/she has a marked effect on the future success of that contractor in securing new work; which insures jobs for our industry.

INDUSTRIAL MOTOR CONTROL
This course uses the Industrial Motor Control, 3rd Ed. book by Herman and Alerich. This should be an excellent course for journeymen who completed apprenticeship prior to 1988. This course will require 40-45 hours of classroom time. The course has been revised to provide more elementary coverage of motor control circuits in the early part of the course.

BLUEPRINT READING
This is an extensive blueprint course which covers Basic Blueprint Reading, Residential Blueprint Reading, Commercial Blueprint Reading and Industrial Blueprint Reading. The course includes a text and three sets of prints which have been taken from real jobs. Also included are the specification for the commercial and industrial jobs, as well as additional information required to complete the assignments. The entire course can be completed in 50-60 hours.

CONDUIT BENDING
This course will require a minimum of 18 classroom hours. This is another good course for those who enter through organizing. A good review for any journeyman. The course covers hand benders and ratchet type benders. Segment bending and concentric bending are also covered.

APPLIED CODEOLOGY
Codeology is a short 21 hour course that teaches the use and understanding of the electrical code book. With completion of the course, one will be much more comfortable using the code book as a reference.

CODE CALCULATIONS
This is a Code study course which will require about 50 classroom hours. The focus of this course is on the different types of calculations required to properly apply the rules outlined in the NEC. The course is divided into 10 sections, each covering a different area which requires calculations. The text is written to show examples of how the Code is applied to different specific applications. Each example shows complete calculations, as well as the correct reference to the area of the Code which pertains to that application/example.
