SORE LOSERMAN!!!!
That would be me… Warning, if you continue to read this editorial you will get my opinion about the presidential campaign that we all just agonized through. WWarning, admittedly my opinions are extremely biased, that’s the bad news. The good news is, unlike the Political analysts and pundits that make millions pretending to be newscasters while impaling us with their opinions, my views are absolutely free (probably what they’re worth). WWWarning, to continue reading will make it very clear that I do not believe that "W 1" the White House. At best, he bought the presidency and at worst he stole it. Either way he had many co-conspirators.
Let’s start with the Secretary of State. Co-Chair for the State of Florida’s let’s buy "W" the White House for Christmas. Then there’s lil brother Jeb and the Florida Legislature. A great group of what I prefer to call in the majority party "the pretty people". They are self-righteous, pompous, arrogant and oh, by the way, so much more intelligent than those of us they serve. I witnessed a Republican legislator tell a first time voting college student that he was to ignorant to vote and that is the simple answer for his having problems casting his vote properly.
Then there are those same pillars of the community, GOP operatives that were allowed to modify election ballot request forms in two counties and even took them home with them in one case, to I guess be more comfortable. What’s the big deal?? Well that courtesy was not extended to the other party. And in fact many of the D’s ballot requests were discarded due to incomplete forms. I promise you that if organized labor had accessed those forms in the same manner, it would not have been a so called hypertechnicality. It would have been fraud and you can bet your hanging chad there would be an all out investigation under the RICO act for racketeering. Where was I? Oh yeah, hypertechnicality. How about 16,000 votes disappearing for V.P. Gore during the tabulation and ending up going to Libertarian Harry Brown. Didn’t hear about that one? Well it happened in this county. It was corrected but that is one of the reasons for being selected for a manual re-count of the ballots. At least in this case it was a re-count and not a simple count of ballots that have never been counted. Ten’s of thousands were never counted, not even once because the machines could not read them. No need to worry though, Florida was allows for a contest provision and surely they would not legislate a law that is impossible to pursue to conclusion. Wrong!!
The continued fraud on the American electorate results in an additional 27,000 ballots discarded in one county out of 6 precincts that many minorities call home. The black community chose Gore 9 to 1 over Bush. You do the math. Unfortunately they had to settle for the antiquated and worn out machines that our "Pretty People" tell us are fine and that he real problem is voter error due to ignorance. Any why are the minorities complaining? Hell, we let them start voting way back in 1965 didn’t we? Now they want us to count all their votes. Imagine! Here’s a news flash for ya…. The GOP is going to do every thing they can to make certain that those ballots and others are never counted. They are already calling for them to be sealed and withheld form the public. One might wonder WHY. The Florida Supreme Court said count all the un-counted ballots statewide and to utilize the standards as provided by Florida statute to discern the true intent of the voter. The canvassing boards of each county (sworn officers of the state) are charged with that duty.
There are five different voting methods in this state and the Florida Supreme Court understood that you could not use the same method for determining the true intent of the voter when the method of voting is done five different ways. Common sense huh… Oh no the "pretty people" say this cannot be. Not only are the people of this state incapable of voting properly they aren’t allowed to engage in truth finding either. Sooo, let’s convene a special session of the Legislature and select our own Bush electors for a little insurance policy and while we’re at it, let’s see if the United States Supreme Court will weigh in and conclude this smack down. This, the Texas Governor says is necessary because if the counting of all legally cast votes were to continue it would cause him irreparable harm. (ya think) The politicians in robes found the following. No more counting! STOP the counting!! Equal protection under the law!!! NO TIME LEFT after our stay order!!!! And by the way, this ruling in their unsigned decision is limited to ONLY the Bush – v – Gore case and is not to be precedent setting. Go Figure!!! Judge #1 states publicly she would like to retire but needs a Republican President elected first so that her predecessor will be appointed by a Republican for a Republican. Judge #2’s son works for the same legal firm that the Bush Campaign employs (and boy are they good). Judge #3’s wife works for some "think tank"(remember they are smarter than most) and is on a committee to select the cabinet for the Bush transition. The referenced "think tank" = (smart people) is solely owned and operated by the Grand OLE Party…. Not bad odds, given three aces before ya even draw. So yes, I am a sore loser and quite frankly the pretty people can shove their BUSH/CHENEY bumper stickers right up their SUV tailpipes….
MERRY CHRISTMAS absolutely! HAPPY NEW YEAR unfortunately not for democracy…..

APPRENTICESHIP HIGHLIGHTS
The Apprenticeship Program began the new school year will 111 apprentices; twelve have been terminated for various reasons, leaving us with 99 active at the present time. We currently have full employment and anticipate this positive trend to continue for 2001. With the need for additional manpower, we are increasing our recruitment and advertising in preparation for next year’s new indentures. The JATC has implemented the AIR Aptitude Test, which was researched and validated through the National JATC. It is the only validated aptitude test aimed specifically for the electrical industry and will be a very valuable too in our selection process.
The new Advanced Technology Center is scheduled to open this summer. Our apprenticeship evening classes will be held at this new facility beginning next fall, through our partnership with Daytona Beach Community College and Volusia and Flagler County Schools. We are the largest apprenticeship program affiliated with DBCC and we will play a very important role in the success of the ATC. State of the Art equipment is on order for our electrical lab and our apprentices will receive the best training available.
Our JATC has submitted its request for College Credit through the National JATC and the American Council on Education. Graduates from 1987 to 1997 will be eligible for 47 hours of college credit; grads after 1997 are eligible for 50 credit hours. Anyone interested in applying for college credit should please contact me.
The Video/Voice/Data Apprenticeship Standards have been registered and we will begin the new three-year apprenticeship program in the near future. The JATC is seeking a qualified instructor – anyone interested in teaching should contact me as soon as possible.
Our JATC is committed to TRAINING and we are making plans now for the following classes: NEC Code Update; Block Exam Prep.; Conduit Bending; Fire Alarm Certification; First Aid and CPR Re-certification and OSHA 10/30 Hour Classes. Please contact me to sign up for any of these classes. Class dates and fees will be determined in the near future.
On behalf of all the trustees of the Daytona Beach Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, I would like to wish you a Joyous Holiday Season and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
